Where do I start?

VMware Server

For customers who are new to virtualization technology can download the VMware Server (formerly VMware GSX Server). The VMware Server product includes support of 64-bit guest operating systems, and it provides snapshot and roll back features. So you can experience the benefits of virtualization immediately. This product is free so you have nothing to lose. It does not include technical support however, but can be purchased separately.

ServiceTech uses VMware Server for our internal testing environment, and we would like to share with you some Tips in using VMware Server.

VMware ESXi

VMware ESXi is an enterprise-class hypervisor with a thin 32 MB footprint for added security and reliability. This product runs directly on server hardware, and can virtualize processor, memory, storage and networking resources into multiple virtual machines.

VMware Infrastructure / VMware ESX Server

VMware Infrastructure 3 is more suitable for users who would like to optimize the allocation of server resources. This product can run directly on bare metal hardware for improved performance, and can allocation resources dynamically according to predefined policies.
